パソコンの動きやゲームのしくみの元になっているプログラミング。それが簡単にできるソフト「スクラッチ」をつかって、パソコンであそんじゃおう。パソコンがはじめての人も大歓迎！世界中で同時に開催するイベントです。

2008年8月より毎月1回、こどもの自発的な遊び場として「こどもプログラミングサークルスクラッチ」を開催。その活動はスクラッチの産みの親、ミッチェル・レズニック氏のお墨付き。

世界中で広がりを見せるフリーのプログラミングソフト「SCRATCH」。この新しいエデュケーションツールを日本国内でリードしてきたトップランナー達を招いて、SCRATCHの今をお話いただきます。また3月末に来日したミッチェル・レズニック氏と交わされたSCRATCHのこれからについてもお話いただきます。世界中で同時多発的に開催されるこのイベント、ぜひご参加ください。
新しい教育用ビジュアル言語のスタンダード「Scratch」
Scatchは、SqueakをベースにMIT Media Labが開発中の教育用ビジュアル言語である。YouTubeライクなWebサイトには、世界中から約40万の作品がアップされている。この人気の秘密や言語の特徴、近日リリースされる新版についても紹介する。
講師：阿部和広（サイバー大学客員教授、東京学芸大学非常勤講師）
1987年よりSmalltalkの研究開発に従事、アラン・ケイ博士の指導を受ける。ケイ博士の開発したSqueak Etoysの日本語化を行い、子供向けワークショップを多数開催する。2008年、MITと協力してScratchの日本語化を行う。2003年度IPA認定スーパークリエイタ。監修に「Squeakプログラミング入門」等。
ゼロからはじめようスクラッチ プログラミング
作品づくりをゼロから一緒に楽しく学びましょう。セッションの終わりには自分だけのゲームを完成させてプレイすることができます。全くの初心者の方 はスクラッチの基本的な使い方を、「スクラッチをダウンロードして試してみたけどよくわからない」という人は、スプライトや背景の使い方やメッセージの使 い方、プログラムの制御、少し進んだ変数やリストの使い方の基礎を学ぶことができます。

学ぶことが楽しい！はじめてのScratch (on Linux) 〜ScratchとPicoボードを使った楽器作りの授業〜
学校に導入されていたノートPCを使って、1CDLinux（KNOPPIX）でScratchとPicoボードを動かしはじめる。小学生のこども たちでも使いやすいような仕組みを考え、CECのOSP基本パッケージv2とUSBメモリの組み合わせで、学習環境を構築。この環境を利用して、2008 年度、こどもたちに「楽器作り」の活動を提供。これらの顛末と成果・課題とこれからの展開についてお話しいただきます。

Scratchによるロボットシナリオプログラミング
MITが開発したビジュアルプログラミング環境「Scratch」とNECが開発したパーソナルロボット「PaPeRo」を繋げてロボットの動作シナリオをプログラミングするシステムを紹介する。Scratchのブロックを操作するだけでロボットが動作し、ダンスシナリオなどの創造的なプログラミングが可能となる。参加者に実際にロボット動作シナリオを作成してもらう参加型のデモも実施する。
講師：加藤 大志（NEC C&Cイノベーション研究所 主任）
1999年に日本電気株式会社入社以後、Webサービス、P2Pネットワーク、共創プログラミングに関する研究に従事。Schemeプログラミング言語を愛用し、オープンソース開発コミュニティにも参加している。

レズニックさんは、Scratchの開発者であり、MIT(マサチューセッツ工科大学)Media Labo(メディアラボ)の研究教授でもあります。
今回、レズニックさんの来日に合わせ、Scratchやその前身であるsqueak(スクイーク)をつかった教育プログラムや、ワークショップに関わっている人たちがあつまり、情報交換会が実現しました。
レズニックさんのお話では、まず、これから公開されるScratch1.4の機能の紹介や、発売予定のWeDo(ウィードゥー)を実際に動かして見せてもらうことができました。
また、あつまったゲストの方達からは、大学や研究機関で、実際におこなわれている試みの紹介がありました。Scratchは利用者として主に子ども達を対象としていますが、大学生や高校生の授業でも使われていて、さまざまな世代が触れて楽しむことができるんだなと実感しました。
私たちもメディアセブンでの活動を紹介し、Scratchのサイトにアップした過去の作品を見てもらったりしました。
会の後半では、Scratchをつかったあたらしい教育の場をつくっていくことに話がうつり、日本におけるScratchのこれからについて意見が交わされ、とても盛り上がりました。
情報交換会のあとは、新宿ジュンク堂にてレズニックさんの講演会です。
ふだんはカフェとして使われているスペースは、レズニックさんのお話を聞こうとやってきた人たちで、立ち見がでるほどの超満員！
スライドを使った講演は、Scratchの紹介からはじまり、Scratchが生まれるまでの歴史や開発の意図、また、Scratchをつかって世界の子ども達がどんな作品を作っているかなどを聞くことができ、本当に刺激的な内容でした。
アメリカのある女の子が作った作品では、Scratchのサイトを通じて世界中の子どもたちから意見を集め、その意見をもとにあらたな作品を作るというやり方をしていました。そこには「作品→共有→フィードバック→新しい作品」という循環があり、コミュニケーションと創造の場ができているのです。ただ作品が作れるというだけではない、Scratchの可能性に、わくわくしました！
(背の高いレズニックさんが、身振り手振りをまじえて情熱的にScratchについて話す姿は、とてもステキでした)
これからもメディアセブンでのワークショップは続いていきますが、そのためのパワーをレズニックさんがくれたような気がします。
日本でのScratchの広がりは、これから本格的になるでしょう。私たちもその一端を、積極的に担っていきたいと思いました。

今日、Scratchの勉強会をしました。「調べる」や「変数」など、難しそうだな〜と思っていたブロックの使い方を知ることができました！どうやって使ったらいいかがわかって、作品づくりの幅が広がった気がします。
また近いうちに第2回をやりたいです。

コンピュータで絵を描く = マウスでペイント というイメージが強いですが、プログラムによって、絵を描くことも出来るんです。これは、難しい数式を使うものではなく、ネコの動きを制御して、その軌跡をペンで描きます。
いずれの図形も基本的に、
- 辺の数ぶんの繰り返し
- 頂点での方向転換の角度
を調整して描いています。四角形だと4回繰り返し、頂点で90度方向転換します。
では、三角形だと、三回繰り返しますが、頂点で何度回したら良いでしょうか？
ヒント：円は90角形と考えて、90回繰り返し、頂点で4度ずつ回しています
三角形の内角の和は180度で、正三角形だと60度ですが、実は60度回しても三角形にはなりません。考えても分かるかもしれませんが、スクラッチのソースに答えは書いてあります。分かった方はコメント下さい。
